This course will help participants develop environments that promote responsible behavior by teaching character and responsibility; through the application of logical consequences instead of punishment. Techniques to keep your dignity as well as the students’ by preventing misbehavior and avoiding power struggles. Strategies are also taught for setting limits with challenging students and support for preserving the environment when one or more students become disruptive and unresponsive to preventative discipline. We will explore how to develop positive and cooperative relationships with difficult students and their caregivers. The instructional strategies used in this course will include the presentation, small group discussions and activities, role-playing, and of course laughter. We know everyone learns better when there is joy in the room.
