Teaching About Peace in a World of Conflict webinar

March 2 @ 12:15 pm - 1:15 pm

| Free

Today, as a new set of violent conflicts dominate international headlines, it is as important as ever to teach young people about the range of practical options that exist to make peace possible, and examples of peacebuilding in action. This interactive virtual workshop from the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) will show educators how to bring critical issues and skills of international conflict management and peacebuilding into their classrooms through USIP’s resources for schools and teachers. Participants will receive a brief introduction to USIP and its work, exploring key concepts in conflict and peace through activities that they can use virtually or in-person with their students. They will explore USIP’s core curriculum guide – the Peacebuilding Toolkit for Educators – and other school resources, including virtual guest speakers, virtual educational programs for students, multimedia, and more, hearing examples of how teachers have integrated these resources into their existing curricula. Finally, participants will consider how to apply what they have learned to their own teaching.

Teachers who sign up will receive a Zoom link and passcode the week before the teacher workshop.

This webinar is part of the 2021 Academic WorldQuest. Visit the event website for more information about the Academic WorldQuest.
