I Teach PreK! is a one day virtual event that showcases a variety of PreK experts. This event is designed to build foundational literacy and numeracy skills to lay the groundwork for deeper content understanding as students grow and develop. These topics will be presented by a team of pre-kindergarten experts who will speak from years of experience in the classroom setting. Participants will fill their toolbox with inspiration, information, and ideas that will rejuvenate and motivate them when they return to their classroom.
María Mercedes Champion – María Mercedes has been an early childhood educator for 15 years. Previously, she worked as a program coordinator for the Kinder Readiness program and as a bilingual facilitator for Families and Schools Together (F.A.S.T.). María Mercedes believes that play is children’s work and she enjoys creating fun learning environments for students to learn while playing.
Clarissa Willis – Clarissa’s 20 years of early childhood education experience include early intervention, curriculum development, and teacher training. She is also a grant administrator, author, and presenter who offers a unique perspective on early childhood development and identifying students individual learning needs. She is the author of Teaching Young Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Literacy Lessons with Special Needs Adaptations written with Pam Schiller.
Nacole Guyton – Nacole is CEO/Owner of an education consulting firm that supports early childhood educators in the care and instruction of early learners. She wears many hats in her varied career as administrator for early learning programs, college instructor, and professional developer and she is a certified Media Specialist and Reading Specialist.
Cheryl Smith Turner – Cheryl is an experienced child development practitioner, seasoned trainer, and educational consultant with real-world knowledge of a variety of topics, from classroom management to social-emotional learning. She combines a high-energy and interactive training style with practical strategies, relevant content, a dash of humor, and a heaping helping of fun.
