Moving Towards Proficiency and Standards-Based Grading

This online course through Montana State University Academic Technology and Outreach will allow teachers to explore different grading systems and to think through ways to incorporate proficiency and standards-based grading into their existing practices. Participants will learn these methods over five weeks. This course is eligible for an optional 10 OPI renewal units.

Instructor info: Kate Solberg, a former MSSE graduate (2008), served as a classroom science teacher for twelve years at the secondary level. Kate is also employed by the West Fargo School District as a Curriculum Coordinator. In this role, Kate supports teachers in the curriculum writing process in order to ensure a guaranteed viable curriculum in twenty schools across the district. The district utilizes Standards-Based Grading and proficiency scales in grades K-8. Kate provides support to science, art, music, and foreign language teachers.
