There are always two sides of a story.

What do we really know about Thanksgiving? We know what we were taught when in grade or high school. We know what we have found in our textbooks. But is that an accurate representation? What about the Native American perspective? Would Native Americans see it differently? When we think of Thanksgiving, how much is a myth?

Join us as we explore the European American celebration of Thanksgiving and look at it through a different lens. During this workshop we will explore biases and stereotypes through distortions of history and distortions of culture and identity of Native Americans.

Facilitators: Ruth Ferris and Kathi Hoyt, School District librarians, have been long time IEFA facilitator/presenters for the Montana Regional Education Service Area III (MRESA3) for many years. The two of them bring a wealth of knowledge, classroom experience, and creative resources to share with participants. They led workshops across Montana and beyond.
