CSPD Region I is hosting a two-day webinar on dyslexia with Dr. Matthew Burns. These training are different than the webinar held in July.
Making Decisions with Progress Monitoring Data – “But that’s not what I’m seeing in the classroom.” Why don’t assessment data reflect what teachers see in the class? Because the assessments often do not match the intervention being implemented. This session will discuss different formats for collecting data to measure the effects of the intervention so that teachers can monitor progress in both the skill being intervened and reading in general. Participants will be able to (a) select a skill measure that matches intervention efforts, (b) monitor progress with a general outcome measure for reading, and (c) interpret both sets of data to make instructional decisions.
Case Studies: Putting it in Action – Participants from previous session will be able to present their efforts, outcomes, and lessons learned from implementing class wide, small-group, and individual interventions. Dr. Burns will also walk individual teachers through a problem solving process with their most challenging students. Participants should come prepared to discuss a student with reading difficulties, and bring data to better understanding the problem.
