Dyslexia Series: Chapter 2 An Overview of Dyslexia

Welcome to the Dyslexia Series! This series is provided by the Tennessee Center for the Study and Treatment of Dyslexia at Middle Tennessee State University on, “Dyslexia in K-2: An introduction to understanding, identifying, and responding to characteristics of dyslexia in the primary grades.” This series aims to enhance educators’ knowledge of dyslexia, its characteristics, and appropriate assessment and intervention approaches for students with risk or characteristics of dyslexia in the primary grades (i.e., kindergarten through second grade). The series is geared primarily toward pre-service educators preparing to teach general or special education in K-2. Much of the module content, however, is applicable to both pre- and in-service educators across the elementary grades (K-5).
