Beginning Irish Language 1 Online

This course is an introduction to the Irish language, with a special emphasis on the sounds and phonetic system of the language. The teaching methodology is An Modh Díreach (the Direct Method) which is based on the principle that language is like music – One cannot play music without a knowledge of the notes; one cannot speak a language without knowing its phonemes. Students of this course will study the two verbs ‘to be,’ Bí and Is, and will learn how to use them to talk about personal characteristics, family, weather, feelings, food and pastimes. This course lays a solid foundation for future study in the language.
