Addressing Attention Deficits in the Classroom
This self-paced, online course provides educators and administrators with proven methods to easily and efficiently understand the needs of students with attention deficits both emotionally as well as academically.
Course Description Summary: Before teachers can engage students with attention deficits in challenging “minds-on” activities, they must first fully understand the challenges and barriers to students’ learning that attention deficits may cause. Through this course and the embedded classroom activities, teachers will understand each of the characteristics of attention deficits and the situations in their classroom in which those characteristics may impact students’ learning.
Every year more and more students come into the classroom with attention deficit challenges. These challenges can often manifest as lack of engagement, behavior issues, lack of organization, trouble staying on task, incomplete assignments, etc. requiring teachers to address these challenges on a daily basis while at the same time providing rigorous and challenging lessons to the whole class.
This comprehensive instructional course provides educators and administrators with proven methods to easily and efficiently understand the needs of students with attention deficits both emotionally as well as academically to dramatically improve teacher effectiveness and achieve greater student performance. The course will present strategies for improving behavior, building rapport, and creating an environment of respect for the student while participants learn instructional strategies that improve students’ learning, organization, and focus.
Participants must complete the course within 4 months from the registration date.
