2019 Montana Tech Middle School Science & Engineering Fair

The 2019 Montana Tech Middle School Science and Engineering Fair is Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at the Student Union Building at Montana Tech. Registration opens Tuesday, January 8, 2019, and the deadline to register for the science fair is 12 pm Friday, March 1, 2019.  Students can use the hashtag #TechScience19 as they work on their projects. 50 students will be nominated for the Broadcom MASTERS Middle School Science and Engineering competition, held in Washington D.C. 2019 Montana Tech High School Science & Engineering Fair

The 2019 Montana Tech High School Science and Engineering Fair is Thursday, March 7, 2019, at the Student Union Building at Montana Tech. Registration opens Tuesday, January 8, 2019, and the deadline to register for the science fair is 12 pm Friday, March 1, 2019.  Students can use the hashtag #TechScience19 as they work on their projects. Two projects from this science fair win an all-expenses-paid trip to the Intel Science & Engineering Fair in May 2019. This course will introduce the NGSS Framework which focuses on the science and engineering practices, crosscutting concepts, core ideas and the journey of becoming a 3D Science Teacher. Teachers will find that many of the practices fit well with other content areas students are exposed to and what you are already doing in the classroom.

Description: This course will introduce the NGSS Framework which focuses on the science and engineering practices, crosscutting concepts, core ideas and the journey of becoming a 3D Science Teacher. Teachers will find that many of the practices fit well with other content areas students are exposed to and what you are already doing in the classroom.
Dates: June 25th- August 5th, Registration closes June 25th or when the course is full.

ONLINE – STEM-Centric Mathematics (K-8)

This four week course, running from April 11 – May 6, will examine the learning processes in Mathematics, Science and Engineering with a focus on foundational ideas that promote mathematical understanding.

Specific goals and activities include the following:

  • Develop an understanding of key attributes for an effective STEM learning environment
  • Analyze and experience STEM-centric lesson components
  • Examine and consider STEM resources
  • Design STEM lessons aligned to the MCCSM
