The University of Montana Rural Institute for Inclusive Communities’ Montana Deaf-Blind Project is offering Part 1 of its Transition to Employment Webinar series, Accessing Competitive Integrated Employment through a Customized Approach. This part will introduce audience members to strategies called Customized Employment and Discovery and explain how Discovery can be used as an alternative to traditional assessments, to highlight a student’s interests, abilities, support needs, and potential work tasks.
Part 2 of the webinar series, Using Strategies of Discovery to Learn about the Student, will be offered on April 16, 2019. The third and final part, Translating the Information Learned in Discovery into Characteristics of a Well-Matched Work Experience, will be held on September 17, 2019. Registration will become available closer to those dates.
Register for Part 1 at the Rural Institute’s website. One OPI renewal unit is available to those who attend the webinar.
